JEDDAH — In a thrilling season boosted by Cristiano Ronaldo playing for a Saudi club, Al-Ittiahd clinched the Saudi Pro League title on Saturday leaving Al-Nassr to end their season empty handed. The Jeddah-based club won against Al-Feiha in Al-Majma'a with three goals thus rendering the result of Al-Nassr's match of no consequence. Al Ittihad's title celebrations will take place on Wednesday as they face Al-Tai in the final round of the league in Jeddah's King Abdullah sports stadium. Brazilian striker Romarinho scored two goals for Al-Ittihad in his title winning match after Ahmed Shrahily opened the scoring in the match. In Dammam, Al-Nassr failed to win their match against Al-Ettifaq. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Al Ittihad lead the standings with 69 points with one last round remaining to be played on Wednesday, while Al Nassr remains in second place with 64 points. Al Ittihad, being Saudi Roshn Pro League champions, will get a historic opportunity to represent the country in the FIFA Club World Cup in December. Saudi Arabia is hosting the FIFA Club World Cup this year. With Saturday's results, Ronaldo's Al Nassr ended the season with no titles in a huge blow for the Riyadh-based club as fans were eager to celebrate this season with their new international superstar with a silverware.
