RIYADH —Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan received on Thursday a phone call from his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian. During the phone call, the two sides discussed the upcoming steps between Saudi Arabia and Iran in line with what they have recently agreed on with China. Prince Faisal and Abdollahian also discussed many issues of interest to the two countries, as well as exchanging congratulations on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr. It is noteworthy that the two foreign ministers have agreed, during official talks in Beijing, to proceed with necessary measures to open their embassies in Riyadh and Tehran, and their consulates general in Jeddah and Mashhad. The choice of Beijing as the venue for the meeting between the Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers comes as an extension of Beijing's positive role in reaching the agreement and facilitating communication between the two countries. Earlier, a technical team from the two countries arrived in Tehran and Riyadh to visit their diplomatic headquarters and embassies to discuss reopening diplomatic missions between the two countries.
