RIYADH — The General Directorate of Traffic (Muroor) warned the public against crossing valleys during the flow of torrents, confirming that it is considered as a punishable offense in the Kingdom. The Muroor said that crossing valleys and reefs during torrential flow is a traffic violation that endangers the safety of the people. Anyone who violates the warning and recklessly crosses valleys and reefs during the flow of torrents as a result of rain will be slapped with fines ranging between SR5,000 and SR10,000. It is noteworthy that the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted in its daily weather report that the regions of Saudi Arabia would witness weather fluctuations over the coming days. The NCM stated that medium to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm will experience in the regions of Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, in addition to the highlands of the Makkah region, which may lead to the flow of valleys and torrents accompanied by active winds and showers of hail. It added that there is possibility for rain accompanied by thunder and active dusty winds in the southern parts of the Riyadh and Eastern Province, noting that the weather in parts of these regions will be extremely hot.
