Published in The Saudi Gazette on 03 - 05 - 2022

With the first day of Eid Al-Fitr on Monday, the second edition of the Jeddah Season 2022 kicked off in the Jeddah Art Promenade zone. It will last for 60 days, with 2,800 activities taking place in nine main zones in the presence of a large number of Jeddah residents and visitors.
Large enthusiastic crowds have flocked to celebrate the Season to enjoy various events and exciting live performances, and be part of what makes Jeddah a permanent destination for tourism, entertainment, and events in the region.
Drone formations created amazing paintings in the sky of the city, while fireworks lit up other formations to the excitement and delight on the faces of visitors who filled the event area overlooking the waterfront in Jeddah.
Cirque du Soleil began its activities in the circus area of King Abdullah Sports City with a variety of international acts and there were a lot of people were there to see them.
This year's Jeddah Season 2022 features a unique set of international events and artistic and theatrical performances, which will be observed by the event venues, Arab and international art concerts, games, and entertainment cities.
This is in addition to the specialized exhibitions that the season will witness. The season management was keen to invest in all the aspects of the tourist, historical, marine, and cultural city of Jeddah to diversify the options for visitors and family members, as well as to provide more opportunities for the country's sons and daughters to participate in this season.
For the first time, daily fireworks displays will be displayed in the "Jeddah Art Promenade" throughout the season, and the Cirque du Soleil event will feature an exclusive show for the Jeddah Season, as well as four international exhibits, seven Arab plays, two international plays, and a number of Arab and international art concerts.
For the first time, the Season will include 70 interactive events, more than 60 entertainment games, several marine programs and activities, and numerous surprises that will delight Jeddah's residents and visitors.
Nawaf Qumusani, director-general of the Jeddah Season 2022, confirmed that this year's Jeddah Season comes with a new and distinct identity as well as more diverse, widespread activities.
They include marine, cultural, artistic, recreational, and other activities, distributed over nine main event zones, namely: Jeddah Art Promenade, Cirque du Soleil, Jeddah Yacht Club, Jeddah Al Balad, Jeddah Pier, Jeddah Jungle, Jeddah Superdome, Prince Majid Park, and City Walk.
They cover various parts of the city of Jeddah, meet different desires, and are suitable for all ages, forming a total exceptional condition of joy and happiness for the inhabitants and visitors of Jeddah during Eid Al-Fitr, as activities will continue for two months.
Qumusani explained in his statement on the start of the Jeddah Season 2022 that the Jeddah Art Promenade, which marks the beginning of the season, is one of the 9 event zones and coincides with the opening of the Cirque du Soleil zone, which began its exciting international shows on the first day of Eid.
The rest of the season's event zones will gradually open over the next few days, until the completion of the opening of all zones on May 17.
In the context of his speech, the director-general of the Jeddah Season encouraged residents and visitors of Jeddah to attend the events and enjoy the shows presented.
He stressed that they are working around the clock to make people happy and to fulfill their desires and aspirations through collaboration and integration with various partners, ensuring that the Jeddah Season 2022 is unprecedented in terms of numbers and the size of the events. — SPA
