The Heritage Commission has registered 253 new archeological and historical sites in the National Antiquities Register as part of its efforts to explore, document, register and maintain those sites in Saudi Arabia. CEO of the Heritage Commission Dr. Jasser Al-Harbash noted that the archeological sites that were registered included 141 sites in Aseer and 112 sites in Hail, representing architectural units and facilities with various patterns and a large amount of inscription, drawings and old rock tags that date to pre-historic ages, in addition to some Islamic inscriptions and writings. Dr. Al-Harbash stressed that the commission is moving ahead with steady steps to document historical and archeological sites in various regions of the Kingdom and register them in the National Antiquities Register before digitizing and including them in a modern digital register. He called on citizens and interested people to report explored archeological sites through the "Balagh" platform, the commission's Twitter account and the commission's branches across Saudi regions. He commended the awareness of citizens and their role as a main partner in preserving the national heritage. The Heritage Commission, while registering the newly discovered archeological sites in Aseer and Hail, relied on Paragraph 2 of Item 8 of the Antiquities, Museums and Urban Heritage Bylaw, which stipulates: "The commission shall prepare registration lists of archaeological sites". — SPA
