FUJAIRAH — The Saudi Arabian Taekwondo player Donia Abu Taleb has won a bronze medal in the Arab Taekwondo Championship Cup. Donia achieved her success in the Arab Taekwondo Cup 2022 "G2" class by winning the bronze medal in the 57 kg category. The event was held in the Emirate of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Donia's victory was one of five other successes achieved by the Saudi national taekwondo team during its participation in the championship. The successes came through Yazan Basisi, who won a bronze medal in (48) kg weight; Abdul Rahman Al-Shahrani, who won the bronze medal in the (45) kg weight; Fahd Al Samih, who too took the bronze medal in the (54) kg weight, while the silver medal was picked up by Ahmed Al-Mawalad in the (80) kg weight. In another exceptional and impressive success, the Saudi Taekwondo Federation said that a player of the Saudi female Taekwondo team champion for juniors, Maram Al-Yahya, won the bronze medal in the (44) kg weight category. By participating in the Arab Taekwondo Cup 2022, she became the first Saudi female junior to achieve an external achievement in Taekwondo. The Saudi Taekwondo team participated in the Arab Taekwondo Championship 2022 "G2" on Feb. 3 and 4, and it was organized by the Emirates Taekwondo Federation in cooperation with the Arab Taekwondo Federation and the Fujairah Martial Arts Club. It was held in Zayed Sports Complex in the Emirate of Fujairah. Seventeen Arab countries participated in the Arab Taekwondo Cup, Ahmed Hamdan Al-Zeyoudi, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Taekwondo Federation, confirmed. He noted that the countries were represented by 950 male and female players. In addition two Arab teams from the United States and Sweden also participated.
