Anti-drug authorities in Saudi Arabia have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of amphetamine pills into the country. Proactive security follow-up of a criminal network's activities that target to tamper with the security of the Kingdom and its youths has led to seizing 30,349,000 amphetamine pills at Riyadh dry port, Major Mohammad Al-Nujaidi, official spokesman of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) said. He said the pills were hidden inside a shipment of cardamom. The attempt was thwarted in coordination with Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority. Two Saudis and two Syrians, who were supposed to receive the consignment, were arrested, Major Al-Nujaidi said. He added that preliminary legal measures have been taken against the four men and they were duly referred to the public prosecution. — SPA
