JEDDAH – The Riyadh Special Criminal Court trying terror suspects sentenced Sunday 11 members of a cell to a total of 20 years in prison for forming a cell that recruited youth for traveling to countries which are in turmoil, for collecting funds to support fighters and inciting others to disobey the ruler. They also face a total of 26-year travel ban. The charges leveled against the first defendant included communicating with several people having deviant thought, inciting people to disobey the ruler, coordinating with others to facilitate the travel of youths to Afghanistan, collecting funds up to SR50,000 and sending these to fighters in Afghanistan. He was sentenced to three years in prison from the date he entered prison. He was also barred from traveling abroad for three years after serving his prison sentence. The second defendant was sentenced to two years behind bars and barred from leaving the Kingdom for two years. The third defendant was sentenced to three years in jail and banned from traveling for the same period. The fourth defendant was sentenced to four years in jail and banned from traveling for four years. Varying jail terms and travel bans were given to seven other defendants.
