Ahmad Abdullah Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – Riyadh Penal Court Tuesday handed down varying prison sentences to 17 terrorists after they were found guilty of the charges leveled against them. They were charged with plotting and planning to kill a Saudi dawah activist and an American national who worked as a manager for a company in the Eastern Province. They also planned to buy chemical weapons, send SR1.2 million to a person in Syria, and set up a site for weapons and explosives training. The first two defendants were sentenced to 25 years in prison, defendant number 14 was given a 15-year jail term, the fourth was sentenced to 12 years, the ninth to eight years, the fifth and 15th were sentenced to six years, the sixth and 13th were sentenced to five years in prison, the eighth to four years and a half, the 17th to four years, and the 16th to three years. The third, the 10th, and the 11th defendants were also given different prison sentences. The seventh prisoner was sentenced to one year. The court issued orders to release some of the inmates who have completed their prison terms and dismissed charges leveled by the Prosecutor General in which he accused six persons of murder and some others of forming a terrorist cell. A Yemeni national was sentenced to prison and deportation while 16 Saudis were put on a travel ban list.
