BURAIDAH – A Saudi citizen accused of sexual harassment of a housemaid has been arrested in Al-Qassim region, police said. They said the man had been referred to the Public Prosecution after preliminary legal measures against him. A spokesman for Qassim police said the security authorities arrested the man after receiving a report from the branch of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in the region based on a complaint lodged by the domestic worker. Meanwhile, a Yemeni national who was involved in collecting money and smuggling it outside the Kingdom was arrested in Madinah, police said. A police spokesman in Madinah said officials of the Criminal Investigation Department were able to arrest the Yemeni resident who violated the residency law by engaging in fund-raising and smuggling money out of the Kingdom. A sum of SR266,285 from unknown sources was seized from him, the police spokesman said, adding that the man was referred to the branch of the Public Prosecution in Madinah after taking initial legal measures against him. In an unrelated development, a Saudi national was arrested in Makkah with a large quantity of the narcotic leaf khat in his possession. A total of 123 kilograms of khat was seized from the man. The arrest was made during a routine inspection by the Special Forces for Road Security in Makkah, according to the spokesman for Makkah police.
