MORE than 100 of the GCC's Corvette owners and guests came together at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi last month to celebrate the launch of its Corvette UAE Club. “The launch of the Corvette UAE Club marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Corvette drivers in the GCC,” said Ahmad Soudodi, regional Chevrolet brand manager. “With its 60 years of heritage, the Corvette is a performance icon recognized around the world, and the sports car represents the pinnacle of endurance racing. We are thrilled to provide Corvette drivers in the region with the opportunity to come together, indulge in their passion and rediscover the full potential of their great cars.” The Chevrolet Knights Club was launched last year for the first time to serve as a platform for Chevrolet owners to unite at driving and networking activities to build relationships and camaraderie. The Club started with the Camaro chapter last year, and is now extended to the Corvette chapter. “The Chevrolet Knights Club is the new initiative which has been well received by customers and we have a plan to roll it out for other vehicle owners going forward,” Soudodi said. The event also featured the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray by showing exclusive videos. The vehicle – which made its debut at the Detroit Auto show in January – is Chevrolet's most powerful standard Corvette ever, with an estimated 450 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. Boasting the perfect balance of technology, design and performance, the Stingray can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) in less than four seconds and achieve more than 1g in cornering grip. The all-new Corvette Stingray will be available in the Middle East market in the fourth quarter of this year. – SG
