GENEVA – Four Arab Gulf countries are participating in the ongoing 41st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, the world's largest meeting place for innovation and inventors. "The participation is meant to introduce GCC inventors and their inventions to the world and to help them reach out to industrialists who can manufacture and market their inventions," Head of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Department at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Patent Office Fahad Zowaid Al-Muttairi told KUNA Friday. The GCC inventors are from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. The Kuwaiti inventor Nada Al-Enzi takes part in the exhibition with an invention related to the mechanism of dynamic liquids, Saudi inventor Bassem Yussef Sheikh with a new device to help people with special needs, UAE inventor Mussa Essa Al-Omari with a smart bank check, and Bahraini inventor Adel Sanad with a new system for improving concrete bases in construction projects. Al-Muttari noted that the GCC inventors' presence in Geneva exhibition has great benefits. "The event serves as a golden platform for Gulf inventors to communicate, interact and exchange expertise with their peers from the four corners of the globe and to get acquainted with the latest trends in inventions worldwide," he said. The Inventions Exhibition in Geneva is the most important event of its kind in the world. Over 725 exhibitors will come from 45 different countries to showcase their ingenious inventions, the latest technology in all sectors of the market, and all kinds of devices to improve people's quality of life. About 24 exhibitors are independent inventors and researchers and 76 percent are inventors from companies, research institutes and universities. Nearly 38 percent of the inventions shown are from Europe, 58 percent from Asia and the Middle East and 4 percent from other continents. A thousand completely new innovations are displayed in a large exhibition area. The categories in which there are the greatest number of inventions are: medicine and health care, protection of the environment and energy, electronics and computer sciences, mechanics and industrial processes, methods of transport, construction and civil engineering, security, practical novelties, sports and leisure, agriculture and gardening, furnishing, domestic science, sanitation and games and toys. Over 60,000 visitors are expected to see the exhibition of whom 42 percent are industrialists, distributors and businessmen, coming from all over the world to find inventions and new products to market. At the end of the five-day expo, the Grand Prix of the show, along with some 50 other prizes, will be awarded to the most inventive and talented designers. — KUNA
