Darah receives a set of valuable documents related to national history
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 21 - 08 - 2021

King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) received Friday a set of documents directly related to national history from Sheikh Nasser Bin Abdul Rahman Bin Abdullah Bin Zahem.
The documents represent the correspondences of his grandfather Sheikh Abdullah Bin Abdul Wahab Bin Zahem, and late King Abdulaziz and his correspondence with several princes, including Prince Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman, Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman, and Prince Saud Bin Abdulaziz.
The documents, which amount to nearly 400 copies dating back to 100 years, also included Sheikh Nasser Bin Abdul Rahman Bin Abdullah Bin Zahem's correspondence with some scholars, private correspondence with his friends and relatives, as well as other documents such as endowments, wills and testimonies, sermons and books.
Sheikh Nasser Al-Zahem expressed his confidence in entrusting Darah with the documents where they will be well maintained and preserved in a well-groomed environment, to be used as a reference for researchers, scholars and academics.
He noted what prompted him to take this initiative was driven by the importance of these documents and the need for them to be saved from extinction by restoring and preserving them from being damaged.
Especially taking the age factor damage, and also taking into account that some of these documents are already suffering from worn out.
It is noteworthy that Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zahem was a Shariah scholar since the founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a close advisor to the founder King Abdulaziz.
He was also appointed as head of the judiciary in Riyadh between 1358 AH —1363 AH before assuming the same position in Madinah.
Sheikh Abdullah assumed several legal departments' positions such as 'Ifta', the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice and the affairs of the Prophet's Holy Mosque until he died in 1374 AH. — SPA
