RIYADH — The Riyadh police has arrested on Friday a citizen who insulted the wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Aisha, in a video on social media. Maj. Khaled Al-Kraidis, the spokesman of Riyadh police, said, "Someone posted a video clip on social media containing content insulting the Mother of the Believers, Aisha, and offensive towards the Prophet." "Security forces arrested the man who is in his 30s." "The arrested citizen was referred to the Public Prosecution for completing the legal procedures against them," Al-Kraidis added. Earlier, Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Muajab ordered the arrest of the man who insulted the wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Aisha. An official source at the Public Prosecution said that anyone who publishes anything that would prejudice religious symbols, Islamic values and public morals would be considered a major crime and punished with a fine of SR3 million or imprisonment for five years.
