RIYADH — Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Muajab has issued a directive to launch a manhunt to arrest a young man, who was found insulting and assaulting two young women while they were walking on one of the roads in the Kingdom. The move follows the circulation of a video clip on the social media pertaining to the misconduct meted out to the young women. Speaking to Okaz/Saudi Gazette, an official source at the Public Prosecution said that their monitoring unit documented a video clip being circulated on social media that shows a young man speaking in an offensive language that is contrary to Islamic conduct and assaulting two young women while they were walking on a street. The spokesman said the Attorney General issued an order to lodge a public criminal lawsuit against him and arrest him immediately, prior to interrogation, and referring his case to the competent court. The source said that the Public Prosecution attaches great significance to privacy and freedom of individuals, in line with the rules of the Islamic Shariah and the law of the land, and does not allow in any way to violate or endanger them. The source revealed that the Public Prosecution will track down those who harm public order and freedom of citizens and expatriates, while stressing that it will spare no effort in criminalizing their actions and bringing them to justice so as to ensure them getting deterrent punishment. "The monitoring center at the Public Prosecution office is working around the clock to monitor the content on social media, especially any criminal activity, by analyzing the identifiers and identifying their location, and then presenting them to the technical team to verify the appropriate legal measures. "This process will be followed by issuing an arrest warrant or summons under the direct supervision of an undersecretary of the Public Prosecution, and then a final report is submitted to the Attorney General to issue the order for implementation," the source added.
