HAIL — Hail police arrested a person who appeared in a video clip doing rounds on social media as he was wandering in a shopping mall despite knowledge of his infection with coronavirus. Cap. Tariq Al-Nassar, the spokesman of Hail police, stated that the two Saudis in their 30s were arrested and they included the infected person and the man who shot the video and posted it on social media platforms. They were later referred to the branch of the Public Prosecution after taking the initial legal measures. Al-Nassar said that the infected man violated the instructions regarding medical isolation and institutional quarantine, apart from documenting and publishing the violation. The spokesman said that the penalties for violators of the precautionary measures and preventive protocols against coronavirus include a maximum fine of SR500,000 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years, or of both, and the penalty will be doubled with repetition of the violation. "If the violator is an expatriate, he will be deported from the Kingdom and there will be a permanent ban on his reentry into the Kingdom after implementing the penalty imposed against him," he added.
