RIYADH - The minister of sport Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Faisal congratulated Tariq Hamdi, a Saudi karate champion, on his qualification for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, according to arriyadiyah report. Hamdi made history by winning the gold medal by beating Lithuanian Rovolskes, 6-0 in a qualification event in Paris. Hamdi became the first saudi karate champion to qualify in 75 kg category. Hamdi won 6 consecutive rounds to earn qualification. Princess Reema Bint Bandar, the Kingdom's ambassador to the United States and a member of the International Olympic Committee, congratulated Tariq Hamdi on her Twitter account by saying "Very proud of Tariq Hamdi on winning gold medal in Paris and becoming the first Saudi karate champion to qualify for the Olympics."
