JEDDAH — Coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia surged past the 1,000 mark for the second day on Thursday, with 1,116 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health, 11 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus. This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 430,505 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,122. The ministry also reported 1,129 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 414,139. The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 377 followed by the Makkah region with 320 and the Eastern region with 134 infections. The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two regions reporting less than 10 infections. According to the ministry, there were 9,244 active cases and 1,344 of them were in critical condition.
