RIYADH — The Shoura Council Monday gave the go-ahead to Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC) to allow telecommunication companies to provide free roaming service to their subscribers while abroad. The CITC has also been asked to lay down security and technological controls for the proper use of this service. The Council also approved the Human Resources Development Fund's plan to develop its mechanism in the national program for assisting jobseekers (Hafiz) so that they can find work and benefit from this program before the end of the subsidy period. Dr. Fahad Matad Al-Hamad, Assistant Chairman of the Shoura Council, said after listening to various viewpoints, the council approved the international roaming service that CITC will allow mobile telephone companies to provide. He said providing the service free of charge can be compensated from the charges for local calls, which are already high. The Council listened to several comments by the Shoura members on the draft agreement between the Kingdom and the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the headquarters of the organization. The draft agreement comprises five chapters and 17 articles. The Council approved the draft agreement. — SG/SPA
