Salam Brothers White finish third

JEDDAH — Salam Brothers White of Ali Abdullah beat Sabr Brothers Yellow 48-46 to claim the third spot in the JDC Inter-Color Division at the Bin Mahfouz basketball court here recently.
The Sabr Brothers almost clinched the game after they got the ball with five seconds remaining, but they blundered. Dawood Antonio had 16 points for the winner and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game. Jameel Cobre scored 24 points for the losing side.
This tournament is sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN – The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi) and Arabian Food Supplies Catering Division (Ahmad Miri).
AVK Wild Boys of Jolly Tilo edged UDG 59-58 for a third place finish in the Group B division. Although UDG was leading by two points with five seconds on the clock, Jolly Tilo hit a three-pointer for the Wild Boys as the buzzer sounded. Boyce top-scored with 21 points for the winner, but the JBL Player of the Game honors went to Jolly Tilo. Casingal and Lico scored 18 points apiece for the loser.
Al-Mabani of Vic Carreon beat Jeddah Eagles 50-38 to advance in the best-of-three championship series.
The winner applied tough defense to counter the running game of its rival in the final quarter. Manalac chipped in with 12 points for the winner and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. Shobain had 12 points for the loser.
Toyota Sequoia of Abdullah Jimmy Beltran downed Awdah 78-53. The winner caught the loser flat-footed throughout the game. Al-Tawill and M.J. dela Cruz top-scored with 12 points apiece for the winner and were adjudged the JBL Players of the Game. Elmer Sanchez scored 22 points for the loser.
In Thursday action, Toyota Used Cars of Ronald Uranza defeated Uptown 966 89-87 for a third place finish in Group A. The winner played man-to-man defense in the fourth quarter to pressure the ball handlers of Uptown 966.
Kevin Llamado scored 28 points for the winner and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. Saldua had 31 big points for the loser.
Saudia Aviation of Andrew Masongsong beat ALJ Central Purchasing 94-88 to advance in the championship series in Group B Division. The winner showed heart in its offense as the loser applied trapping defense in the final quarter. Dexter Flora led the winner with 32 points and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. M.J. dela Cruz had 31 points for the loser.
