Samar Yahya Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Under the support of Jeddah Governor Prince Mishal Bin Majed, the city will host the second annual international healthcare exhibition and forum, MEDEXPO, from Saturday at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events. The event is expected to secure a large number of jobs for young Saudis in the healthcare field. According to Elie Rizk, CEO of Micearabia which is organizing the three-day event, government efforts to expand hospitals and provide the best medical care to everyone in Saudi Arabia and improve the quality of services are remarkable and the Kingdom's healthcare sector has witnessed record growth due to an increase in government spending in the sector. “We began our business in the KSA six years ago and we can say that MEDEXPO is receiving great support from Prince Mishal Bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah, the Ministry of Health and Jeddah Chamber for Commerce and Industry,” said Rizk. The exhibition industry, which provides professional standard of services to exhibitors and visitors and creates the right atmosphere for both parties to discuss business, has seen steady growth in the Kingdom over the past couple of years. “Initially, our main challenge was to create this platform and to meet the expectations of exhibitors and the requirements of visitors,” Rizk added. He said the concerned official departments in Jeddah are paying serious attention to venue space, something vital for the success of any exhibition and an indicator of the size of the market and its future. “We still have more editions of MEDEXPO and then we can think of more specialized exhibitions in fields of healthcare. Yet, we have specialized seminars, conferences and workshops during MEDEXPO.” The expo will host 200 exhibitors from 27 countries. During this year's event, the Ministry of Labor will set up a booth and target young Saudis by offering them job opportunities in the healthcare field. Visitors are expected from GCC countries and the wider Middle East region.
