ABU DHABI — Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been awarded a $257-million contract for Abu Dhabi International Airport's midfield terminal complex, Arabian Business said, citing a company statement. The company will build the “concrete hard stands” for aircraft parking around the new facility, Arabian Business said, adding that the contract included remote stands. The airside works comprise taxi lanes, in addition to the apron parking stands and link taxiway to the current airside infrastructure with a tunnel on the airside, it said. The contract, granted by Abu Dhabi Airports Company, is part of the expansion program for the airport, whose new terminal will serve as the new gateway to the capital of the UAE and the future home of Etihad Airways. Other parts of the project include aircraft fuel hydrant system, storm and portable water distribution line, chilled water distribution system, medium voltage distribution sub-stations, communication network and fire main distribution system on the major utility divisions, it added. L&T will begin the work this month for a period of 28 months, it said. — SG
