Saudi, Arab leaders mourn death of Kuwait Emir

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman mourned on Tuesday the death of Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The Royal Court said that Saudi Arabia and its people share Kuwait's grief, while recalling that Sheikh Sabah passed away after a life full of achievements and benevolence.
"The King and the Crown Prince came to know with utmost grief and sorrow the news of the death of Sheikh Sabah; may God bestows His mercy upon him and accommodate him in His widely vast paradise," the Royal Court statement said.
The King and the Crown Prince offered sincere condolences and sympathy to the Al-Sabah family as well as to the Kuwaiti people, and the Arab and Islamic nations, on the death of Sheikh Sabah, saying that the emir passed away after accomplishing achievements and endeavors, and exerted all efforts to best serve his country, as well as the Arab and Islamic nations and the entire humanity.
The King and the Crown Prince prayed to Almighty Allah to provide the noble royal family and the Kuwaiti people patience and solace to bear the loss and to perpetuate security, stability, welfare and prosperity for the State of Kuwait and its people, the statement added.
Meanwhile, President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan mourned with great sadness and sorrow the death of Sheikh Sabah.
In a statement, the ministry of presidential affairs said that that UAE has lost one of the most prominent leaders from the Arab and Islamic nations who made huge contributions to his people and nation, defended Pan-Arabism and Islamic causes sincerely and loyally. He was one of the pioneers of the joint GCC action, along with fellow GCC leaders, who enhanced the GCC journey.
"We extend our heartfelt condolences to Al-Sabah family and the people of Kuwait. We emphasize our full confidence in the farsightedness, fortitude, and the ability of the people of the State of Kuwait and their wise leadership to complete the triumphant journey of the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad in serving the nation and advancing the course of joint Arab action," the statement said.
At the directives of President Sheikh Khalifa, the UAE will observe a three-day state mourning with the flag flown at half-mast at all official departments, embassies, and UAE's diplomatic missions outside the country.
"May God have mercy on the compassionate father of Kuwait..and the beating heart of the Gulf... and the noble prince of humanity, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. .. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return," the Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said on Twitter.
The Jordanian royal court also announced a 40-day period of mourning for the Emir of Kuwait starting from Tuesday.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi expressed his condolences to Sheikh Sabah's family and said that the Arab and Islamic world lost a leader, one of its most precious men."
