JAZAN — The Farasan archipelago has approximately 150 islands that vary in its sizes in the Red Sea. It is located about 50 km offshore from Jazan, the far southwestern part of Saudi Arabia. These islands are distinguished by its tracts of limestone, coral reefs in addition to its picturesque white sands and freshwater. The most important and famous islands of the archipelago are: Farasan Al-Kubra, Qamah, Al-Saqed, Damsak, Zafaf, Kira, Dushak and Salwa Island. Farasan Al-Kubra is the largest Island and it is considered as an important tourist and archaeological site in the region. Moreover, It has monuments and landmarks that play a major role in tourism activity in the region. Such as: • Al-Qandal area A charming area located north of Farasan Island in Saudi Arabia, amidst mangrove forests and land trees interspersed with waterways. • Qassar Village It is considered as an essential summer resort for the residents of the region and the tourists. The enjoyable natural paradise view of the plantations combined with the coasts is what attracts the people the most. • The Jarmal House It is an ancient building located on the coast of Qamah Island. Dates back to the First World War the Jarmal House was used as a site for storing ammunition and weapons due to its strategic location.
