DAMMAM — Saudi border guards on Sunday thwarted an attempt to smuggle in 388,732 amphetamine tablets and 1.125 ton of hashish off the coast of Khafji in the Eastern Province, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said. Lt. Col. Missfir Al-Quraini, spokesman of the Border Guard, said the drugs were seized during a routine exercise to confront the criminal networks trying to smuggle narcotics in the Kingdom. He said the seized drugs have been referred to the competent authorities to complete applicable procedures. The spokesman said anyone who tries to undermine or bypass security and indulge in the unlawful trade will be dealt with firmly and forcefully.
