MUSCAT — Oman on Wednesday said it would end travel restrictions between its governorates and reduce nighttime curfew hours in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the Sultanate, beginning on Saturday (Aug. 8), state news agency ONA reported citing a statement from the country's supreme committee on coronavirus. According to the statement, the curfew will begin from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. instead of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting on Saturday. However, citing epidemiological indications, the committee decided to keep a complete lockdown in the southern governorate of Dhofar until further notice The total lockdown was imposed on July 25 as part of the country's efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus, especially during Eid festivities. The committee also decided Wednesday to reduce a ban on night-time movement in all governorates of the sultanate to run from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. daily starting from the evening of next Saturday for one week until the morning of Aug. 15.
