RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Tuesday recorded 1,342 new coronavirus cases, an increase of 84 infections over the previous day tally, snapping a consistent downward trend over the last few days, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom to 281,435. The ministry also announced 35 more deaths from complications caused by the infection, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 2,984. Meanwhile, 1,635 more patients recovered from the virus, raising the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom to 243,688. Of the new cases, 90 were detected in the capital city of Riyadh, 56 in Makkah and 53 in Madinah and Haft Al Batin and 50 in Dammam. The remaining cases were detected in various other cities and governorates of the Kingdom. There are 34,763 actives cases in the Kingdom out of which 1,983 are critical, according to the statement.
