RIYADH — Tourist and historical sites abound in Riyadh and its governorates making it an attractive tourist destination, Minister of Tourism Ahmed Bin Aqeel Al Khateeb has said. These important sites give prominence to Riyadh which already enjoys its political and historical importance as the capital of the Kingdom, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted Al Khateeb as saying on Monday. Al Khateeb's comments came during his virtual meeting with the Emir of Riyadh Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Al-Hukm Palace. The meeting reviewed the national strategy for tourism and the most important factors for attracting tourists and investments, as well as an overview of the summer campaign in the Kingdom and the targeted destinations and active sites in Riyadh region. They also discussed the approved health protocols and enhancing the existing coordination between the emirate in Riyadh and the ministry of tourism in many areas, and activating the relevant agencies, support and cooperation. Prince Faisal affirmed the care and attention accorded by the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman to the tourism sector in the Kingdom. The government seeks to portray the Saudi cultural and social domains in their true perspective to the world, he said. Prince Faisal lauded the efforts of the minister of tourism in presenting the visions and strategic presentations, so as to achieve the goals set in the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Al Khateeb thanked and appreciated the emir's efforts in promoting the tourism sector.
