Saudi Gazette report AL-NAMAS – A delegation of European and American tourists described the governorates of Al-Namas and Tanoumah as unique tourist landmarks in the Kingdom that have great potential to become international tourist destinations, Al-Riyadh daily reported. The director of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) office in Al-Namas, Muhammad Abdullah Al-Asbali, said the group was accompanied by Asir region tour guides Majed Muhammad Al-Shehri and Miteb Al-Mahmood, director general of Rehlat Rai'ah Establishment, as they toured several resorts in the two governorates. They also visited the mountains of Al-Namas and Tanoumah, which are known for their height as well as archaeological heritage. The delegation later visited Al-Namas Museum, which is run by the SCTA. Al-Asbali said the group toured different sections of the museum and looked at dozens of exhibits. The delegation watched a Al-Namas folk troupe present folklore dances like Al-Midgal and Al-Arda (sword dance). The troupe showed the visitors how to dance with the Arabian rifle during celebrations. The visitors also toured the historic district and several recreation parks, historic sites and traditional markets. Tour guide Al-Shehri said the Emir of Asir Prince Faisal Bin Khaled and SCTA President Prince Sultan Bin Salman are keen to promote Asir as a tourist destination in the Kingdom. The region has attracted more than 100 foreign tourists this year.
