RIYADH — The daily number of new coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia soared again with 4,919 fresh infections reported during the last 24 hours, the health ministry announced on Wednesday. This raised the total infections to 141,234. Despite an increase in new cases, the Kingdom continues to confirm additional recoveries daily. Over the past 24 hours, 2,122 patients have recovered, increasing the overall figure of recoveries to 91,662. The ministry said 10 individuals contracted the virus due to not wearing a face mask and ignoring social distancing measures at a workplace. Two of the 10 are in critical condition. The Kingdom also recorded 39 new fatalities, taking the death toll to 1,091. Most of the newly detected cases were found in the capital which saw a significant increase of 2,371 new cases since Tuesday. There were 282 infections in Makkah, 279 in Jeddah, 273 in Hufof, 156 in Madinah, 140 in Taif, 137 in Dammam, 123 in Dhahran, 114 in Al-Khobar and 100 in Khamis Mushayt. The rest of the cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom, the ministry said.
