ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Friday registered 638 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 33,170, the country's Ministry of Health and Prevention said in a statement carried by state news agency WAM. The newly detected cases, all of whom are in a stable condition and receiving the necessary care, were identified after the health authorities carried out more than 36,000 additional coronavirus tests among different segments of the society, including citizens and residents, over the last few days, the ministry said. Meanwhile, a total 412 more patients have recovered from the deadly virus after receiving the necessary treatment, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 17,097 of total recovered patients. The ministry confirmed two more deaths from the virus, taking the total number of fatalities in the country to 260. According to the ministry, the deceased, who are of different countries, died due to complications caused by COVID-19 infection. The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to all patients, calling on the public to cooperate with health authorities and comply with all precautionary measures, particularly social distancing, to ensure their safety and protection.
