Eight more people have died from coronavirus in the United Arab Emirates in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from COIVD-19 to 64 in the country, the country's Ministry of Health and Prevention said on Friday in a statement carried by state news agency WAM. Those who succumbed to the deadly virus were from different countries and were suffering from chronic diseases. Meanwhile, the ministry also announced 525 new COVID-19 cases and 123 more recoveries, raising the total number of infections and recoveries to 9,281 and 1,760 respectively. The latest cases were detected as a result of the ministry's intensified screening and testing. The ministry said that it has conducted over 32,000 additional COVID-19 tests among citizens and residents. The ministry offered its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased. It also wished a speedy recovery to all patients and called upon the general public to strictly adhere to preventative measures out of concern for the health and safety of all. — SG
