RIYADH — Visitors, who are already in the Kingdom, can extend their visas through Absher and Muqeem portals, Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday, quoting a statement from the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat). The visit visas of all kinds can be extended for the same period which was originally granted even if the period of the stay exceeded the specified period of 180 days. All the arrangements to facilitate the process have been made in coordination with the National Information Center, the statement added. The Jawazat noted that it had earlier announced that the renewal of visit visas can be done by personally visiting the nearest Jawazat offices in case of any difficulties faced in the renewal through Absher. However, under the new arrangements, the service will be available remotely and there is no need to approach any Jawazat offices, the statement clarified. The extension of visa will be made seven or less than seven days before the expiry date and within three days after the expiry. Earlier on Tuesday, the Ministry of Tourism announced that foreign tourists, who are remaining in the Kingdom and are affected by the temporary suspension of international flights, would be allowed to extend their visas. The tourism visa extension will be made after payment of visa fee along with the fee for extended medical insurance. Tourists shall visit the nearest Jawazat branch of for the completion of the visa renewal procedures.
