Published in The Saudi Gazette on 18 - 02 - 2020

RIYADH — The Space Generations Program (Ajyal) launched by the Saudi Space Commission will contribute toward establishing a national base for human capital in the space sector, said Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh, CEO of the Saudi Space Commission.
Al-Asheikh said that the program was striving to set up relations of cooperation with specialist academic circles to achieve further progress in research related to space sciences and their applications, creating a flourishing education environment in the Kingdom by establishing an environment that catalyzes and empowers the space sector to become a platform for launching big economic and scientific tracks through cooperation from all segments of society.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted him as further saying: "We get inspiration from the experience of Prince Sultan Bin Salman, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Space Commission (SSC), and his team which has shown keen interest, enthusiasm, creativity, determination and a resolve to reach space."
He added: "The scientific team that supported Prince Sultan's voyage in space comprised elite scientists, most skillful technicians, designers, and creative intellectuals, who contributed to making this dream come true. The success of the space voyage was the result of the efforts of the whole team. Therefore, the SSC is striving to create a similar dream team that will contribute to achieving our ambitious vision for the future of the space sector in the Kingdom."
Meanwhile, Ilham Al-Harbi, director general of the Ajyal Space Program, an affiliate of SSC, said the program has a comprehensive set of strategic goals and visions that aim to instill inspiration in the new generations to become pioneers in space sciences, to build and develop the Kingdom's coming generations of space scientists, convert their dreams of creating impressions in the space world, enable these generations to become pioneers in using and developing space technologies by providing them an inspirational education environment, and lead the space sector to serve the Kingdom and humanity as a whole.
