Okaz/Saudi Gazette PARIS — Nathalie Goulet, a member of the French Senate, described the Kingdom's Vision 2030, spearheaded by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, as an ambitious and comprehensive project for Saudi Arabia. In an interview with Okaz/Saudi Gazette, she said that through the Vision, the Crown Prince has opened Saudi Arabia to the world. Goulet, who is also chairperson of the GCC-French Parliamentary Friendship Group in the French Senate, underscored the pivotal role of Saudi Arabia in establishing and consolidating the stability and security of the region and the world as a whole at a time when Iran and its agents are engaged in attempts to destabilize the region. "If Tehran does not act, it will lose its credibility in the eyes of its allies, and if it retaliates for the liquidation of Qasem Soleimani, the United States will strike it more forcefully," she said. While describing the Middle East as a powder keg, Goulet called on the countries that have some clout in the region to play their role in defusing tension. She underlined the significance of diplomacy in easing the tension in the Middle East region and suggested that the European Union could play an important role in this regard. Goulet explained that the issue that worries France and Europe is terrorist groups, especially the Muslim Brotherhood, which has infiltrated into Europe, and France in particular. "Since the beginning of the year, France has suffered three knife attacks, and Africa has also been afflicted by attacks of terrorist militias especially in Nigeria, Kenya, Burkina Faso and Mali. Therefore it is extremely important to take concerted action against terrorism, especially against the influence of the Brotherhood." Goulet said Saudi Arabia has a major role to play, considering its position in the Islamic world. The Kingdom's efforts are clear in this regard and no one has the right to underestimate those efforts. She lauded the remarkable role being played by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman in the fight against terror. "The Crown Prince has acted vigorously against terrorism, and the Kingdom has established a strong center that monitors all terrorist movements and pursues them. We must continue to combat terrorism and work jointly to eradicate its roots by intensifying all efforts and limiting its financing," she said, while underlining that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are in the forefront of this fight.
