ABU DHABI — Mazen Al-Kahmous, president of the newly created Control and Anti-Corruption Commission, said that governance, transparency, integrity and combating corruption are among the main pillars of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. He made the remarks while addressing eighth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which began in Abu Dhabi on Monday. Al-Kahmous, who heads the Saudi delegation attending the four-day conference, underscored the keenness of the Saudi leadership in strengthening the rule of law and holding every official accountable, regardless of his position, in order to eliminate financial and administrative corruption in a way ensuring the speedy settlement of corruption cases and realizing the desired goals. "Saudi Arabia's efforts in the field of international cooperation were not limited to mere agreements and memoranda of understanding, but rather made among its priorities to beef up efforts in combating corruption and protecting integrity in G20, as it holds the presidency of the group for the year 2020," he said. Al-Kahmous said that Saudi Arabia is holding an exhibition on the sidelines of the conference in order to showcase the Kingdom's most important achievements at the local and international levels in combating corruption and protecting integrity. It is also hosting two workshops in cooperation with the UAE Accounting Office pertaining to combating corruption and enhancing public awareness about integrity. The Kingdom is a state party to the United Nations Convention against Corruption after its ratification with a decision of the Council of Ministers. More than 185 countries are parties to the conference, which aims to enhance international cooperation and evaluation of anti-corruption legislation in addition to strengthening integrity and transparency.
