Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir held talks in Washington on Tuesday with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. They tackled the deep historic and strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States, reported the Saudi Press Agency. They addressed cooperation relations and ways to boost them in various fields, as well as the regional and international developments. Al-Jubeir later met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker. Following the meeting, State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said, "The secretary thanked the minister for Saudi Arabia's continued partnership with the United States across many regional and bilateral issues. "On Yemen, the secretary expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia's help in facilitating an agreement between the Republic of Yemen Government and the Southern Transitional Council. "They agreed that this was an important step to move toward a comprehensive political solution to the conflict in Yemen. "The Secretary and the Minister also discussed recent developments in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon, and the need to continue countering the Iranian regime's destabilizing behavior." — SG/SPA
