ROME — The Kingdom is keen to support all initiatives aimed at arriving at a peaceful solution in Yemen, the Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and adviser to the Royal Court Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah has said.
At a recent closed-door meeting with members of Italy's Chamber of Deputies and the Senate entitled: "Supporting the Yemeni People" here, Al-Rabeeah said the Kingdom never discriminates between the Yemeni factions, sects and regions and provides its aid to all without any partiality, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said.
Al-Rabeeah further said that the Kingdom is very keen to support the security and stability of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Members of the Italian Parliament stressed in their comments the importance of humanitarian work in Yemen, expressing their appreciation for the humanitarian efforts by the Kingdom, especially by KSrelief to support the Yemeni people.
They stressed that the ideal solution in Yemen is a peaceful settlement that guarantees security and stability. They lauded the Kingdom's pivotal role in achieving peace in the region.
The session began with a briefing on the political, geographical and humanitarian situation in Yemen. Then Dr. Al-Rabeeah briefed the audience on the historical situation in Yemen and the strong relationship between the Kingdom and Yemen.
He reaffirmed the Kingdom's keenness to support all the initiatives aiming at reaching peaceful solutions, including the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference and its outcomes, the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 2216.
He said that after the breakout of the conflict, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen under the leadership of the Kingdom began to support all the peaceful political initiatives.
As to the humanitarian aspect, Dr. Al-Rabeeah said that the Kingdom has provided Yemen with over $16 billion in the humanitarian, relief and development fields. It also supported the refugees, financed the Yemeni Central Bank and supported the Yemeni economy.
Dr. Al-Rabeeah dealt with the flagrant violations against humanitarian work in Yemen by the Houthi militias, which were detailed by many international organizations. They have confirmed that the Houthi militias steal relief materials and sell them in the black market to support the war effort.
