The Saudi Academy of Civil Aviation (SACA) prepared and trained 79 Yemeni air traffic controllers (ATC) to work in a number of Yemeni airports. This training and assistance is within the framework of cooperation between the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and its counterpart in Yemen. The SACA has allocated 1,200 training hours for Yemeni air traffic controllers that accommodated several training packages covering various air traffic control specialties. The SACA received the first batch of Yemeni air traffic controllers in mid-2017, and the trainees underwent intensive programs that were developed according to their needs. The programs were not limited to the specialization of air control, but included specialties like "aviation systems maintenance, airport safety and operation, aviation security, fire and rescue." This cooperation between the two countries in the fields of air transport is an extension of the helpful role played by Saudi Arabia towards others. GACA too has used all its capabilities to assist the Yemeni people — by holding training courses or workshops and specialized seminars in the fields of aviation and air transport. SACA's training of the Yemeni air traffic controllers reflects the Kingdom's standing in the field of aviation training. The academy boasts seven international accreditations from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). — SG
