JEDDAH — The tournament, called Team-of-6 Tennis Tournament is under way at the DPWorld housing accommodation inside Jeddah Port compound since last Aug. 11 and will run up to Oct. 11, 2019 in a format of 6-member team playing out 3 doubles in a round-robin match-up against all teams in each division. George Bornales, chairman of the DPWorld Tennis Club, leads the organizing team, which also includes club officers: Orlee Reyes (secretary), Ruben Llamas (treasurer), Art Gipiga (auditor), Roy Felix (business manager), and the Technical Committee as follows - Joel Chan, Alfred Nolo, and Marlon Pagsanjan (Technical Committee director). Binu Puthen is the club manager, and Cesar Q. Quilenderino as the tournament adviser. Two divisions shall play out separate final matches to determine the respective division champions — for the B-mix category and the Lower-mix category. The B-mix category has six team entries, shall go through a single round-robin elimination, elevating the top four teams to the semifinal games in knock-out cross-over matches for the spot to the title match. The Lower-mx category comprises 12 teams, divided into two separate groups of six teams, playing independent round-robin elimination, the top two teams from each group shall be up-graded to the divisional semi-final games in knock-out cross-over matches for the spot to the title match. In the opening ceremony, a parade of team participants took place in the tournament tennis court with the team of SFHTC (Dr. Sulaiman Fakeeh Hospital Tennis Club) being the winner of Best-in-Uniform award. The JRTC (Jeddah Ranao Tennis Club) and BTC (Basamn Tennis Club) were declared both runners-up for the Best-in-Uniform award. Khaled Bahdelah, the DP World camp manager, handed officially the awards to the winners. In the opening match-up, Team SFHTC had the first taste of victory as Zaldy Ramos/ Abner Cailer breezed past Ben Consolacion/Noel Tumolva at the score of 8-2. But their win was drained out to the succeeding two matches as their opponents, Team Toyota's Nour Panizales/Joe Aquino took the light out over SFHTC's double Erwin Daanoy/Joey Septimo with a score of, 8-5; and then Arnold Yabut/Zaldy Gabriel hammered the deciding-set win in the 3rd doubles against SFHTC Champ Nur/Ruben Cacdac, 8-4. The teams match-up gave Team Toyota a total 18 points, edging out Team SFHTC by a hairline over the loser's 17 point.
