Renowned Egyptian singer Amr Diab captivated an audience of around 6,000 who had gathered at Al-Jawhara Hall of King Abdullah Sports City on Monday evening. The mega star got the fans cheering as he began singing his famous song "Wahshatouni." Diab's performance was part of a series of "Jeddah Season" concerts being staged at Al-Jawhara. The series of concerts began with the performance of the famous Emirati singer Ahlam Al-Shamsi, dubbed as "The Queen" on Saturday and it was followed by that of the most acclaimed Saudi singer Mohammed Abdo on Sunday at the same venue. At the outset of the concert, opening remarks were made by the well known broadcaster Jessy Karam, who expressed her pleasure to visit Saudi Arabia for the first time. "I thank the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) for giving me this opportunity," she said. On his part, Diab thanked Adviser Turki Al-Sheikh, head of GEA, saying: "I thank my poet friend for giving me the opportunity to meet this audience in Jeddah, the city I love," said Diab. The audience enjoyed his most famous songs, such as Tamli Maak, which was echoed by the audience, and Qamarine and they chanted "Miyal Miyal." — SG
