JEDDAH — The Directorate General of Passports (Jawazat) has made the provision of medical insurance coverage a prerequisite for extension of family visit visa, local daily Al-Madina reported on Monday. On its Twitter account, the Jawazat said the provision of medical insurance for the visitors is a must for the extension of their visit visa. It said medical issuance will cover emergency cases only at a maximum limit of SR100,000. There are more than 9 million expatriates from over 100 various nationalities working in the Kingdom. Many of them have sent their families back home and are bringing them back on visit visa. The maximum duration of the visit visa for families is six months. The Jawazat said the extension of the visit visa could be applied for electronically through Absher account for individuals and establishments. It said the validity of the visit visa is linked to the validity of the medical insurance coverage.
