Makkah -- Since its inception in May 2015 till 2019 the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has provided aid worth SR12.21 billion in 44 countries, KSrelief supervisor general Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah said here on Thursday. Addressing a large group of local and international media gathered in the holy city to cover three historic summits, Rabeeah said Yemen received the largest percentage of KSrelief assistance. He said Saudi Arabia was the largest donor to the Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan of the UN, contributing $541.6 million of the total funded amount. Rabeeah highlighted the atrocities being perpetrated by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias against civilians in Yemen. Hospitals and schools have been targeted. Saudi Arabia faced the effects of the war facing 56 ballistic missiles fired by Houthis. Even the holy city of Makkah was targeted, he said. KSRelief is running Child Soldiers Rehabilitation Program in Yemen. It has benefitted 240 children directly and 6,000 beneficiaries indirectly. The Kingdom has spent $628.068 on this program. He said Palestine has been the second largest recipient of KSRelief with an aid worth $352.9 million. Syria has been KSRelief's third largest recipient with aid worth $267.1 million. Somalia is the fourth largest recipient with $175.36 million worth of aid. Pakistan is the fifth largest recipient with $116.602 million aid.
