Chicago's Kris Bryant slugged three home runs and drove in five runs, and the Cubs hit six homers in a 14-6 rout of the host Washington Nationals on Friday. Bryant clubbed his third homer — and fourth hit — in the ninth inning. He went deep in each of the final three frames, joining Sammy Sosa (2002) as the only Cubs players to homer three innings in a row. Bryant, 27, also had a three-homer game in Cincinnati on June 27, 2016. Cole Hamels (4-0) tossed five innings of two-run ball as the Cubs broke a two-game losing streak behind an 18-hit attack. Springer socked a first-pitch changeup from Rick Porcello 395 feet just to center field, scoring Jake Marisnick and erasing a one-run deficit. Porcello entered the eighth having retired seven consecutive batters before surrendering his first extra-base hit of the night when Marisnick doubled to left. Porcello (3-4) allowed two runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in seven-plus innings for Boston, which had won 12 of 15 games. Yankees 4, Rays 3 Gio Urshela hit a game-winning single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, capping a three-run rally that pushed New York past visiting Tampa Bay. The Yankees beat the Rays for the third time in four meetings this year when Urshela hit a 2-0 fastball over center fielder Kevin Kiermaier's head off Jose Alvarado (0-3). Upon hitting the ball, Urshela pumped his right fist and flipped off his helmet to celebrate giving New York its third walk-off win of the season and producing his first career walk-off hit. Luke Voit, who went 3-for-4, started the comeback from a 3-1 deficit by hammering the first pitch of the ninth over the right-center-field fence to make it a one-run game. The Yankees later forged a 3-3 tie when pinch runner Thairo Estrada scored on a wild pitch. Athletics 7, Tigers 2 Frankie Montas came within one out of his first career complete game, Mark Canha and Chad Pinder blasted two-run homers, and visiting Oakland overpowered Detroit. In his 22nd career start, Montas (5-2) gave up two runs on four hits without a walk and struck out 10. Canha also hit a two-run homer in the Athletics' 17-3 victory on Thursday in the series opener. Miami's Garrett Cooper had two hits and drove in his first two runs of the season to end a 26-inning scoreless streak. Brian Anderson had two hits and scored twice for the Marlins, who also ended a seven-game losing streak against the Mets dating to last season. Phillies 5, Rockies 4 Bryce Harper greeted reliever Carlos Estevez with a two-run double in the fifth inning, propelling Philadelphia to a victory over visiting Colorado in the opener of a three-game series. Cole Irvin (2-0) overcame his own fielding miscues to win his second straight start, thanks in large part to the three shutout innings by three Philadelphia relievers. Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run homer, and Jean Segura had three hits for the Phillies. Orioles 5, Indians 1 Jonathan Villar belted a three-run homer. and Dylan Bundy tossed 5 2/3 solid innings as Baltimore recorded a victory at Cleveland. Stevie Wilkerson homered to lead off the fourth inning and added an RBI double in the eighth for the Orioles, who posted just their second win in their last nine outings overall and fourth in their last 16 versus Cleveland. The Rangers have won three straight. The Cardinals have lost three straight and are 4-12 since May 1. Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas (4-4), who spent the 2014 season with the Rangers, faced the minimum in the first inning before Texas busted out in the second, when nine of its first 10 batters reached against Mikolas. Braves 12, Brewers 8 Atlanta cranked three home runs in a nine-run sixth inning in support of Max Fried and rolled to a win over visiting Milwaukee. The Braves posted their sixth win in the past seven games. Atlanta entered the sixth with a three-run lead and put it away with the long ball. Dansby Swanson snapped an 0-for-17 skid with a three-run shot to get it started, and Josh Donaldson added a solo homer. Tyler Flowers finished it with a two-run blast to center field. The Braves completed the rally on Ronald Acuna Jr.'s two-run single. Acuna was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Atlanta improved to 6-1 since he moved into the leadoff position. Dodgers 6, Reds 0 Rich Hill struck out 10 over six scoreless innings while Joc Pederson and Max Muncy hit back-to-back home runs as Los Angeles started a three-city road trip with a shutout victory at Cincinnati. Hill (1-1) was shaky in his first three starts to the season after recovering from a knee sprain, but put it together against the Reds with his first double-digit strikeout performance since June 29, 2018. Dodgers pitchers recorded their fifth shutout in the past nine games, including two consecutive, while striking out 13 batters. Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani (2-2) gave up four runs on six hits over four innings while losing a game for the first time since April 7. Diamondbacks 7, Giants 0 Arizona's four-run rally in the seventh inning, which included San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy's ejection, doomed the Giants in a loss in Phoenix. Reynolds followed a one-out single by Josh Bell in the fourth with a 415-foot drive to center off a 2-and-0 sinker from Lucchesi. The homer erased a 1-0 Padres lead that came in the first inning when Franmil Reyes homered off Lyles. Lyles (4-1) allowed one run on five hits and a walk with 12 strikeouts over seven innings to lower his ERA to 1.97 in eight starts. Lucchesi (3-3) also allowed five hits in seven innings.
