Arab group mounts campaign to strip Tawakkol Karman of Nobel prize

The Arab Women Foundation (AWF) has announced the launch of an international campaign to strip Yemeni human rights activist Tawakkol Karman of the Noble Peace Prize awarded to her in 2011.
Karman won the prize for her participation in the non-violent struggle to ensure women's safety. However, speaking at a press conference in Paris, the campaign organizers said Karman had later changed her attitude and became a staunch supporter of terrorism.
Mohammed Al-Dilaimi, secretary general of the foundation and head of the campaign, said the they would organize various activities, including symposiums, seminars and press conferences in a number of Arab and world capitals in addition to meetings with a number of the Nobel laureates.
"We will uncover the terrorist role of Karman, which is against the rules and regulations of the coveted prize," he said.
Unprecedented role for any Peace Prize laureate, Dilaimi said, Karman has turned her back on her homeland and the Arab nation.
"Karman has been spreading hatred among people and using the media to destabilize Arab countries," he added.
Dilaimi said they would organize a forum in Cairo later next month with the participation of prominent Arab personalities in the fields of media, politics, law, art and culture to uncover Karman's unacceptable practices.
He said the forum would also explain the evil roles being played by Karman in support of countries and organizations involved in terrorism.
Dilaimi said those countries and organizations provided all resources, including air space on TV channels and international platforms, for Karman to use her Nobel laureate status to spread her venom and anger against the peace-loving people of the region.
He said the AWF would organize similar activities in many Arab and international cities including Tangier, Geneva, London, Paris and Washington.
"The aim of these activities is to mobilize international public opinion to drive the Nobel Foundation in Sweden and the Peace Committee in Oslo to take immediate steps to strip Karman of her prize," Dilaimi said. — Agencies
