Okaz/Saudi Gazette MADINAH — An emergency doctor at King Fahd Hospital in Madinah has accused the Miqat Hospital of causing the death of a 60-year-old Saudi man because of negligence. The doctor, who was not identified, accused the emergency doctors at the Miqat Hospital and the doctors who accompanied the patient in the ambulance with negligence that led to the death of the man. "The doctors did not provide the patient with the required attention while he was being transported by ambulance," he said. The man was admitted to the Miqat Hospital after a wall had fallen on him. He spent hours in the emergency ward before he was transported to King Fahd Hospital. He died before reaching the hospital. The emergency ward of King Fahd Hospital said in a report that the man arrived at the hospital unconscious, with a pale face, feeble pulse, unable to breathe normally and completely irresponsive to light or touch. The report said the doctors tried to resuscitate him for about 20 minutes without any response, which confirmed his death. The doctor said the man was not resuscitated in the ambulance and there was no evaluation of his case or the state of his vital organs. The son of the dead man on his part accused the Miqat Hospital of hiding the medical report of his father and said he had filed a complaint with the department of health affairs in Madinah. He called for investigating all doctors at the emergency ward of the Miqat Hospital accusing them of negligence, which led to the death of his father. Abdul Fattah Al-Nuwwar, acting spokesman for the Madinah Health Affairs, said the case would be referred to the medical Shariah committee.
