MADINAH/JEDDAH — A private medical center in Madinah's Al-Bahar neighborhood reportedly dumped a patient in front of the toilets of Al-Miqat General Hospital. The medical center's ambulance had transported the patient to the hospital. The African patient spent nearly an hour on the floor before he was moved into the hospital's emergency ward. The medical center had previously dumped a child patient on the pavement because there was no available treatment for him at the center. A number of visitors to Al-Miqat Hospital informed the hospital administration about the patient but they did not act until people began gathering around him. Director of Madinah Health Affairs Dr. Abdullah Al-Tayfi confirmed that the medical center's ambulance had transported the patient to the hospital without giving them notice. He said the patient was examined but he did not need hospitalization. The hospital asked the medical center to take the patient back, but it refused and instead dumped him in the hospital yard. The hospital has coordinated with the local passport department regarding the patient. It has also asked Madinah Health Affairs' medical license department to investigate the actions of the private medical center. Woman remains in coma A heart attack victim who was misdiagnosed as dead by a doctor at a private hospital in Jeddah 15 days ago still remains in a coma. The woman's husband took her to the private hospital when she complained of severe chest pain, but the attending doctor refused to admit her claiming she was already dead. The husband transported the woman in his car to another hospital where doctors revived her. However, the doctors said the delay in resuscitating the woman damaged her brain and caused her slip into a coma. The husband said he was planning to sue the hospital for damages. Spokesman for Jeddah Health Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Sahafi said the directorate has begun an investigation into the case.
