AMMAN — A Jordanian official says a fire that broke out over the weekend in a refugee camp near the Syrian border killed a 40-year-old Syrian man and injured two of his children. Anmar Hmoud, a government spokesman for Syrian refugee affairs, says the two children — aged seven and 12 years — are being treated for serious burns after their tent caught fire late Saturday at Al-Zaatari camp. Hmoud said Monday that police are investigating the cause of the fire. An earlier fire at the camp burned down more than 20 tents, including some hosting small shops. That blaze, which broke out on Friday, was blamed on gas cylinders used for cooking. Jordan says it hosts more than 425,000 Syrian refugees. – AP
