Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH — Director General of Traffic Maj. Gen. Muhammad Al-Bassami has disclosed to Okaz/Saudi Gazette that objections to traffic tickets filed electronically will be responded to within a maximum period of seven days. He pointed out that objections could be raised against unsettled traffic fines only. He also added that no objections to traffic fines that have been paid prior to the issuance of the Interior Ministry directive would be entertained. Maj. Gen. Al-Bassami said: "Al-Qassim Traffic Department has started receiving objections electronically. The reason for choosing Al-Qassim for implementing the electronic objection system in the first stage was the low volume of data to be processed for evaluating the quality of the service and the method of operation." He said the volume of data in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province was very large and therefore, Al-Qassim was chosen the volume of data there was around the national average. The service will be extended to other regions gradually, he added. He stressed that the Traffic Department would make sure that the experience has ripened, before implementing it in the remaining regions.
