TORONTO — Nazem Kadri continued his points streak Monday with a goal and an assist in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 4-2 victory over the struggling New Jersey Devils. Clarke MacArthur, Jay McClement and Phil Kessel — with his first goal on home ice this season — scored in the third period for Toronto. Kadri connected in the first period and assisted on MacArthur's goal to earn points in his fifth straight game. The 22-year-old Kadri leads the Leafs with 23 points in 23 games. James Reimer, making his first appearance at Air Canada Centre since Feb. 11 after a mild knee ligament strain, made 28 saves for the win. Marek Zidlicky scored twice for New Jersey, which hasn't won in five games. Ryan Carter assisted on both goals and Johan Hedberg stopped 19 shots for the Devils. Penguins 4, Lightning 3: Reigning MVP Evgeni Malkin returned to the lineup for the Pittsburgh Penguins Monday night after missing four games with an injury. Coyotes 5, Ducks 4 (SO): Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored on the fifth round of a shootout to give Phoenix its second consecutive 5-4 shootout victory over Anaheim in the second meeting between the two teams in three days. In another game Los Angeles beat Nashville 5-1. New draft rules give more clubs top pick hope April's NHL Draft Lottery will be the first to give all 14 teams who fail to reach the playoffs a chance at landing the top pick in the NHL draft under new rules announced Monday. Previously, only the five teams with the fewest points in the NHL standings during the regular season had a chance to claim the top pick as rules dictated no club could jump more than four spots as a result of the lottery. The weighted system of deciding the order in which teams can select unclaimed new talent did not change the odds, however, for teams obtaining the No. 1 pick, meaning the team with the worst record still has a 1-in-4 chance to claim the prized selection. No club will be dumped down more than one spot as a result of the lottery. The lottery will be staged April 29 with the seven-round NHL Draft set for June 30. The team with the second-worst NHL record has an 18.8 percent chance at the top pick, the third-worst team's odds at 14.2 and the fourth-worst at 10.7 and so on down to the team which came closest to making the 16-team NHL playoffs but failed having only a .5 percent hope of landing the top selection. The Edmonton Oilers have had the top pick in the past three NHL Drafts. — Agencies
